My weekend starts tonight in some ways1, and I will be watching Sextette (1978), a film made by Mae West when she was 87.2 If you treat the internet like the resource that it is, then you should be able to find it along with an episode of PBS’s American Masters, where Natasha Lyonne breaks downs West’s “radical power move” like so.
Here is a preview of the film that delivers taglines like “Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?” And “Wow, I’ve never seen that position before” — a sentence that is only titillating if your drawl sounds like it’s prowling around in a corset.3
Remember that you can always tell me what to watch. This weekend — my first one off in 2023? — I will be going through that list.
Not for my day jobs.
No spoilers, but she plays a 28-year-old!!!! Time? She doesn’t know her.
The other way I would describe her voice is like a silhouette taking on flesh. Only makes sense for her.
