Everything is in flux
Catching up
I’ve spent the last few months running around, reporting, and writing a lot more, so I put together a little roundup. For Racquet, I wrote about the state of tennis in Canada. (More to come there.) In between matches, perfumer Trey Taylor walked me through his career, his approach to perfumery, and his love of diesel exhaust (as a scent), for The Creative Independent. Last month, I spoke to Marisa Meltzer about Jane Birkin, her namesake Hermès bag, and more for SSENSE.
published this beautiful book on getting dressed—Wearing It Out. She asked ten writers (moi aussi) to send her a piece of writing about an item in our closets, something that really spoke to each of us. Wearing It Out is in its second print run. It’s so beautiful I barely want to touch it.Also loved talking about one of my favourite scenes from Near Dark with Natalie (Mise-En-Scène ).
You can always stay up-to-date and read more here, if you wish.
Coming up
There will be changes to the newsletter—more on that in the new year. Until then, you can expect to read interviews with Caden Mark Gardner, Serena Morris (She’s Underrated), a returning guest, and more.

Consumption report
This time of year marks the anniversary of Adrienne Shelly’s death, so I’m usually rewatching Sudden Manhattan or Trust. I know everyone loves her in Hal Hartley’s Waitress, but I think Trust is his best (and it was written for her)!
What’s on my watch/rewatch list: Big Business, Carts of Darkness, and A Scene at the Sea.
What I’m reading: Cecilia Lacerda on the lost art of celebrity candids, Annie Dabir on the democratization of good taste, and the wool dogs of the Salish Coast.
What I’m scrolling through: Riley Thomas Weber, the Pointe Shoe Therapist.

Cannot wait to see what the New Year brings.
